“Palmdale Works! Youth Job Academy” Accepting Registration

Youths ages 15 through 18 who are interested in developing the skills needed to successfully interview for a job are invited to register for the upcoming session of the “Palmdale Works! Youth Job Academy.”

Classes will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from Sept. 1 through Sept. 15 from 3:30 to 5:30 pm at the Chimbole Cultural Center, 38550 Sierra Highway in Palmdale.

There is no cost to attend but pre-registration is required. Interested students may apply online atwww.cityofpalmdale.org/youth or by calling 661/267-5473.

During the course of the program, Academy students will be taught how to dress and prepare for a job interview, as well as meeting employers from local businesses and role-playing in mock interviews. Participants must attend each session to graduate.

"Participation in a program like this really does speak volumes to potential employers about the motivation and commitment of any young person entering the job market," said Palmdale’s Community Programs Supervisor Trish Jones.

The “Palmdale Works! Youth Job Academy” was created in 2008 to assist youths in preparing for the competitive job market.
