18-year-old arrested in Palmdale hit-and-run crash that killed mother of 5 and her Lyft driver

An 18-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of being the driver in a hit-and-run crash that left two people dead in Palmdale earlier this month in Palmdale LASD said.

Jamaal Tyree Madden was allegedly speeding in excess of 100 mph before the fiery collision around 12:30 a.m. on June 9, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

A Dodge Challenger and a Toyota Corolla were traveling westbound on Rancho Vista when the Dodge hit the Toyota from behind, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.

A Video from the scene showed the vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

The driver and a female passenger who was in the Toyota were both declared dead at the scene.
